Differences I noticed between the ouran manga and anime* (or, DINBTOMAA) Episode 1:
- In the manga, Tamaki finds out Haruhi is a woman by finding her*3. middle school ID card, while in the anime he walks in on her changing.
- ITM*4., They play the "which one is Hikaru" game, despite this not appearing until episode 5 in the show.
- Haruhi never puts on the female uniform ITM.
- The light bulbs are not ITM.
- ITA there is much more focus on the vase Haruhi breaks.
- "Long live the poor!" (Tamaki doesn't say this in my copy of the manga)
- ITM they have coffee and ramen, ITA the ramen is skipped.
- The twins' hair is much flatter ITM.
- ITM Kyoya references his family's "influence" but ITA he mentions his family's "police force"
- ITA Tamaki mentions the pinky glass thing while on his rant while Haruhi thinks of the word "obnoxious" while ITM he does it before.
- ITM Honey was happy to eat his cake while all the others performed tasks to transform Haruhi.
- ITM Haruhi is harassed more (she gets a cut from a sharp object placed in a book)
- ITM Haruhi isn't accused of attacking Princess whatsherface and doesn't fall on top of her. (13.5 the tea only hits Princess and not her ITM)
-1. I probably missed stuff. I'm just a girl*2. :P
-2. I'm not a girl (Like Haruhi)
-3. I'll be referring to Haruhi with she/her pronouns since that is what she uses in the show/manga. I think that, realistically, if this series was more modern, Haruhi would use they/them pronouns or something of that nature.
-4. I'll use ITM to mean "in the manga" and ITA for "in the anime"
